Law of Attraction – Soap story lines

The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like and so if we want to attract people and situations into our lives that make us happy we must choose to do things that make us feel happy. This applies to our choice of television programs.

Yesterday I got involved in a discussion on face book about an upcoming soap story line on cot death in Eastenders. This is in itself an emotive subject and I send only  thoughts  of love and healing to those who are going through such a bereavement at this time. The discussion did bring to light a couple of issues that I would like to share with you today.

Firstly with regards to this soap story line the only known truth at this point is that one of the characters will lose a baby to cot death and then in the depths of grief will steal another baby. The ladies wanting to stop this story line were clearly worried about how this would be portrayed but at this moment in time the only people that know how are the cast members. Often in life, and sadly it is us ladies who do this most, we take a fact that we know to be true, embellish it and then worry about our embellished version of the truth. Often we are worrying about something that will never happen. This is sadly a waste of energy and takes us away from happiness not towards it. I would like to suggest that for any situation you are worried about  simply ask yourself “what facts do I know to be true here?” You can often cut your worry list in half just by asking yourself this question. Remember happy people do not worry. Worries are a block to your happiness so in order to work with the Law of Attraction you want to find a way to eliminate your worry list. Television is supposed to be a source of entertainment. It does not have to rank so highly in our lives that it becomes a source of worry. The soap story lines are written in response to the numbers of viewers so if you do not like a story line simply make a choice and do not to watch.

Another point that I would like to make is that the soaps cover all sorts of emotive subjects. We cannot set up a scale of grief that says grief resulting from one situation is more difficult than grief from another. I am sure there are many people that have found other story lines difficult to watch but at the end of the day it is your choice. If you do not like a story line do not watch it. If a story line makes you feel bad why would you want to watch it? Last Xmas approximately 11 million people chose to watch one of the characters on eastenders get murdered. It got the top viewing figures of the day. Did all these people have a happy xmas day? It does seem hard to imagine that they did but it was their right to choose what they watched and as long as they tune in the writers will continue to write such story lines. Again if you choose to work with the Law of Attraction there are a few choices you can make. Practice discernment and choose to watch only those programs that make you happy. Choose only to make decisions about what is right or wrong for you and allow others the freedom to make their own choices. Be non judgemental of people who make a different choice to you.

Being Happy Now – Turn away from negative thoughts.

So you want to start being happy now, today, not tomorrow, right now? Good, I hope you  choose happiness as it is your birth right to be happy. You would think being happy now  is an easy choice for all of us but do you really choose happiness every moment of your day?

Despite good intentions, without paying attention to our own choices we are easily influenced by the thoughts of others. Every time you listen to a politician they are determined to keep telling us that we should be experiencing difficulties in our daily lives.  Every time you watch  the news you are being influenced by the thoughts of the journalists telling you over and over the terrible details of a particular event. The news programs on television are full of bad news. They make it seem like we are living in a very bad and very dangerous world. There are lots of good news stories out there but sadly people do not tune in for good news so the television channels do not present those stories to us. How sad is that? Are we really  happier  to hear bad news than rejoicing with those who are experiencing or doing good things?  Step one if you want to start being happy now is to stop watching or reading bad news stories.

I watched a television program last week presented by super nanny Jo Frost where they showed that playing violent computer games had an immediate affect on a group of young boys  making them less responsive and less willing to help others. Similarly watching television programs which offer murder, violence, arguments and dishonesty not only affect our well being  but also the well being of our  children. They are not conducive to feeling good or being happy. Watching programs that makes us laugh, programs  with a happy ending, programs where a person succeeds over adversity, programs on the wonder and beauty of nature, these types of film and  television programs help to lift us and are what we should choose if we want to start being happy now. Step two to being happy now is to choose only to watch films and television programs that make you feel good.

There are many other choices that we can make each and every day that will help us to start being happy now but starting to monitor what you watch, read, or listen to, will immediately help you to feel happier today than you did yesterday. My suggestion to you today, which you can take or leave, is to try making these choices for one week and see what effect they have on yourself and your children. I think you will be happily surprised.

Have a great week. Be happy. Karen x

Law of Attraction Being Happy Today

Being happy is a state of mind.

The thoughts that you are thinking determine the way you are feeling. We all know that we feel better on a sunny day. Our personal circumstances do not change just because the sun is shining but we feel better because we are having happier thoughts. The good news is that we do not need the sun to shine to think happy thoughts we can choose to have such thoughts everyday. The Law of Attraction responds to the way we feel and we feel the way we do because of our thoughts.

We are always waiting for happiness to happen to us and we often think we will find it when we find a new relationship, a new job, a new home, more money etc. The irony is that the Law of Attraction teaches us that in order to attract these things into our life we need to be happy first!

So how do you start being happy today? Well, in order to work with the Law of Attraction you must first make peace with where you are in your life today. This does not mean you do not want to make any changes but that you start to be grateful for all that is good in your life now. Remind yourself why you love your family and friends, focus on all that is good about your job, your home, your car, notice the wonderful gifts of nature all around you. There is so much in your life that is already good and the first step to being happy today is to stop moaning about everything  you want to change and start to focus on all that is good now.
